While the Cowboys have struggled this season, Texas Tech (KenPom No. 8) has had no such issues. Tech is coming into this game with a five-game winning streak, and has only lost five games total on the season. One of those five wins for Tech was their first matchup with the Cowboys in a lopsided 78-50 affair in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

As I mentioned above, Texas Tech has unexpectedly put together another great season following their program-best Elite 8 run last year. Tech finds themselves ranked number 11 in the nation and and just a half game behind the conference leaders K-State. The team they’re a half game ahead of? A Kansas Jayhawk squad Texas Tech is fresh off dismantling this past Saturday.
Tech is a decent team on offense but they make their living on defense where they’re still number one nationally in defensive efficiency. It spelled trouble for the Pokes in Stillwater, and the Red Raiders will have to literally sleep on the Cowboys for it to not give Cam McGriff and co. loads of trouble again.

Three Things to Watch For:
- Isaiah Todd watch:
There’s a massive (as in would be top player in the Cowboys’ class if he reclassified to 2019, as in 6’10, as in five-stars worth of star power) recruit coming into Stillwater this weekend for an official visit after already taking an official visit this past summer. My unofficial calculation says the Cowboys would then be the number 7!! recruiting class in the nation.
2. Strong class either way:
Even without Todd, the class is already a very solid number 21 in the nation with another two spots open following the removals from the team this season. It will be interesting to see how Mike Boynton fills those spots, but I’m excited for the future regardless.
3. Miracle on hardwood:
The Big 12 tournament is coming up in just a couple of weeks, and the Cowboys will need a miracle in said tournament to sniff the postseason this year. Winning in Lubbock after the previous outcome would likely take an even bigger miracle, and we need to save all our miracle quota for the tournament.
