Football Recruiting: OSU offers two 2020 tight ends

Oklahoma State seems to be bound and determined to land at least one tight end in their 2019 class.

After missing out on one of their top targets at the position earlier this week when Allen Horace Jr. committed to Arkansas, the Cowboys got back out on to the recruiting trail and offered two more tight end prospects.

The first is three-star Blake Smith of Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas, who announced his offer on Twitter Tuesday.

OSU joins an already long list of offers that includes Florida State, TCU, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Colorado, Cal, and Boston College, among others.

The 6-4, 247-pound prospect played all over the field for Southlake Carroll last season, completing 19 of 26 passes for 251 yards and one touchdown, rushing for 38 yards on 10 carries, and catching six receptions for 92 yards and two TDs. It all led to Smith being a first-team all district selection.

While Smith has solid hands and has physical speed, it’s his blocking that’s even more impressive.

The second offer is three-star Drake Dabney of Cypress, Texas, who also announced his offer on Twitter.

OSU is now the 19th program to offer the 6-4, 228-pound tight end, joining TCU, Vanderbilt, Arizona, Boston College, Houston, South Carolina, Louisville, and Purdue, among others.

Dabney earned second-team all-District 14-6A honors his junior year. All we could find for his stats were four catches for 60 yards and one touchdown. However, his junior tape shows more than that.

Dabney has good hands and is a solid blocker that’s quick off the ball.

OSU is set at tight end for the next few years with six cowboy backs currently on the roster. That includes Jelani Woods, but doesn’t count incoming four-star signee Grayson Boomer.

That said, it never hurts to add depth. Considering OSU has offered six tight end prospects in the 2020 class, it’s likely they’re hoping to land at least one Cowboy Back for their 2020 class.
