Chris Harris Jr. commits to Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State lands another star piece to an already impressive recruiting class.

Oklahoma State head basketball coach Mike Boynton hit his second buzzer-beater with a member of the Baggage Claim Boys after four-star shooting guard Chris Harris Jr. announced his commitment to the Cowboys on Thursday.

He later Tweeted out this recruitment video:

Harris Jr. originally committed to and signed with Texas A&M, but was granted a release after the school fired then head coach Billy Kennedy. Since then, it’s been a race between OSU, Texas Tech and Texas A&M to land the talented shooting guard.

But, instead of staying in the Lone Star State, Harris Jr. will now head north to Stillwater to play with one of the best recruiting classes OSU has assembled.

A class that had already been ranked in the top 30 thanks to Marcus Watson, Avery Anderson and the Boone twins, Kelan and Kalib, now bumps up to No. 20 in the country.

Add that to the best six players from last season’s team returning, and OSU should be in for a successful 2019-2020 season.

Speaking of last season’s best players, one of those happens to be starting point guard Issac Likekele, who likely (no pun intended) played a big role in Harris Jr’s commitment. Harris Jr. and Likekele are members of the Baggage Claim Boys, along with Kentucky signee Tyrese Maxey. While Maxey will compete in the SEC, Harris Jr. and Likekele will now share a backcourt in Stillwater as they try to conquer the Big 12.

With Harris Jr.’s commitment, OSU still has two available scholarships for the class of 2019. You can take a look at which players to keep an eye on and how Boynton might use the third scholarship here.
