It’s high noon...

Colin Simpson on 2019 success of spring sports:

After Sunday’s Big 12 Tournament win, catcher Colin Simpson talked a about how awesome it is for Oklahoma State for Baseball, Softball and men’s golf to be in the position they are being talked about on ESPN.

“It’s one of the best feelings when you look on ESPN and you see us getting talked about, then golf, then softball.”

Josh Holliday’s letter to fans:

Oklahoma State announced that they would have to move their regional to Oklahoma City. Head coach Josh Holliday asked fans to make the drive down to OKC to support their team, and while their at it, go support the softball team as they compete in Women’s College Word Series that’s also in OKC.

If they win the title, this golf team could be the best in any sport:

Bill Haisten of the Tulsa World talk about the status of the men’s golf team in Oklahoma State Athletics lore if they win the title.

Considering the history of achievement for the Cowboy golf program, Verplank’s statement is thought-proving. I extended it beyond golf: Is this Cowboy golf team the best team ever at Oklahoma State, regardless of sport?

Today, yes.

It’s a status that becomes permanent if Oklahoma State emerges from match play with another championship.

If that happens, then it’s undeniable that these Cowboys are the best of all Cowboys.

The 1941, 1966 and 2005 OSU wrestling teams were among the greatest ever in that sport. The OSU baseball program got a national title in 1959, and Gary Ward’s teams of the ’80s were offensive juggernauts.

The Henry Iba-coached Oklahoma A&M Aggies won national men’s basketball titles in 1945 and 1946. Eddie Sutton drove the Cowboys to Final Four appearances in 1995 and 2004. {Tulsa World}
