The Oklahoma State softball team had no answer for Washington pitcher Taran Alvelo, who struck out 16 batters as the Huskies eliminate the Cowgirls with a 1-0 win Saturday night at the Women’s College World Series.
The No. 13-seeded Cowgirls finishes the season 45-17, including a 2-1 win over No. 7 Florida for their first WCWS victory since 1998 at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City since 2011.
With a runner on second base and two outs in the second inning, No. 2 Washington (52-8) seemed destined to take a 2-0 lead when Amirah Milloy blasted the ball to center field, but OSU freshman Chyenne Factor robbed Milloy of a home run by extending her left arm over the wall and pulling the ball back into play.

Milloy wouldn’t be denied in the fourth, when she hit a two-out single to right field off Samantha Show to drive in Taryn Atlee for the game’s only run.
Show allowed one run on seven hits, struck out three and hit one batter.
OSU’s Madi Sue Montgomery was robbed off a hit herself in the sixth by Sami Reynolds who snagged the ball before crashing into the wall.
