Former Cowboy Alex Norén tied for third after first day of the Open

It’s getting exceedingly difficult to follow all the OSU alums on the PGA Tour. Former Big 12 first teamer Alex Norén is best representing the Cowboys in the Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Currently he is four under and tied for 11th. Here is an updated leaderboard.

Boynton expects Cannen Cunningham to be a great long-term coach

Hiring the nation’s second highest recruit’s brother was not just for recruiting purposes, Coach Mike Boynton says.

Although Cunningham, 26, is the brother of Cade Cunningham, a five-star 2020 recruit on OSU’s radar, Boynton isn’t directing all his attention toward one player. Cunningham has multiple connections in the DFW area, an OSU recruiting hotbed.

“I know there’s a perception about the short term, but I’m talking long-term, I think he’s gonna be a terrific coach,” Boynton said.

During the previous year, Cannen Cunningham, a former SMU center, was Tulane’s associate director of video operations. He also has AAU coaching experience. Boynton, who earned his first head coaching job at OSU, isn’t afraid to give a young coach a chance.

“... He knows what a good player looks like,” Boynton said. “He was one himself. He knows how to help develop players, and he has an eye for talent and can relate to people.”

Tyreek Hill will not be suspended

After a lengthy child abuse investigation, former OSU standout Tyreek Hill is cleared to attend Kansas City Chiefs training camp and will not miss a game.

. . . based on the evidence presently available, the NFL cannot conclude that Mr. Hill violated the Personal Conduct Policy. Accordingly, he may attend Kansas City’s training camp and participate in all club activities. He has been and will continue to be subject to conditions set forth by the District Court, Commissioner Goodell, and the Chiefs, which include clinical evaluation and therapeutic intervention.

If further information becomes available through law enforcement, the pending court proceeding, or other sources, we will promptly consider it and take all appropriate steps at that time. CBS
