Oklahoma State football: Brennan Presley talks OSU commitment

The Bixby product believes he can be the next great Cowboy wide receiver.

After celebrating his recent commitment to play football at Oklahoma State with his friends and family, Bixby wide receiver Brennan Presley was gracious enough to talk about his commitment with me.

Being from the state of Oklahoma, Presley is well aware of the recent success the Cowboys have at wide receiver. Although it was just one of many factors in landing the Bixby standout, Presley said the Cowboys’ recent run with quarterbacks and wide receivers played a role in his decision to commit to OSU.

“As a slot receiver, you want a [school] that throws the ball, and has good [quarterbacks] throwing you the ball at that,” Presley said. “You can also exceed at your position too and with Oklahoma State not being too far from home, I just thought it was a perfect fit.”

OSU’s recent run of quarterback-wide receiver duos have been fan favorites as well as record setters. The most recent dynamic duo was Mason Rudolph and James Washington. OSU fans are hoping to get a similar run of success during the next two or three seasons from Spencer Sanders and Tylan Wallace.

Presley will have big shoes to fill when he steps on campus, but he thinks he can be one of the next great OSU receivers with fellow Cowboy commit Shane Illingworth throwing the ball to him.

“I really think we could (be the next great duo at Oklahoma State),” Presley said. “We could be a great duo along with all of the other receivers that will be at OSU. C.J. Moore is there, he went to Union High School. I worked out with him a little bit, I long-jumped against him.

“I think we could make some really special plays for the next four to five years.”

Even though he hasn’t stepped on campus yet, Presley is already getting attention for some of the ridiculous catches he has made. Presley landed on ESPN’s “SportCenter’s” Top 10 a couple weeks ago while playing at a 7-on-7 tournament in Arkansas.

Any team in the nation could use a guy who can makes catches like that in the back of the end zone. It just so happens he will be making those catches in a black and orange end-zone that spells out OSU in block lettering. How lucky are we? Presley described the scene for me when he first saw the tweet above and it’s every bit as cool as I imagined it being.

“I was actually on the bus and my coach was like, ‘Hey Brennan, check your phone. It’s about to start blowing up’,” Presley said. “I go straight to Twitter and (saw the tweet) and the whole bus went crazy. It was one of the greatest moments of my life so far.”

It just doesn’t get any better than that. Presley was able to celebrate with all of his teammates, including the quarterback who threw him the pass that got him on SportsCenter. Every kid dreams of that moment growing up.

Hopefully Presley saves up some of his SportsCenter Top 10 visits for his collegiate days. The #SCtop10 always looks a little better in orange and black anyway.

Presley still has his entire senior year at Bixby ahead of him before he heads to Stillwater. You can follow him on Twitter @bprezzle to check out some of his highlights.
