On Wednesday, Smart said the team’s 36-17 scrimmage loss to a Jeff Van Gundy-coached team of G League and overseas players was “embarrassing.” The U.S. faces Spain on Friday night.
The FIBA World Cup is set to tip off Saturday, Aug. 31, with the Americans playing their first game the following day against the Czech Republic.
