Spencer Sanders will start at quarterback for No. 6 Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon against No. 17 Iowa State after missing more than a month with a high ankle sprain, according to Brett McMurphy of The Stadium.
Sanders suffered the injury on the Cowboys’ second drive in OSU’s season opener against Tulsa on Sept. 19.
OSU coach Mike Gundy said earlier this week there was a possibility of playing both Sanders and Shane Illingworth, who has thrown for 483 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Sanders’ absence.
While that still may happen, it looks like Gundy will give Sanders the first go at it. Illingworth and Sanders have shared reps in practice this week so we’ll have to see how much playing time they both get.
Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. on FOX.
