It’s high noon...
Cowboy backs showed up Saturday:
In Saturdays win, Oklahoma State took a page out of Iowa State’s book and utilized the tight end hybrid position. It worked out really well for the Cowboys in their 24-21 win against the Cyclones.
“Going into it there was a little bit of a rivalry,” OSU offensive coordinator Kasey Dunn said. “They’ve got a great set of tight ends at Iowa State and our guys wanted to play well, and we wanted to get our guys active too. There was a little bit of motivation from both Logan and Jelani going into the game. So we felt, ‘Hey let’s get these guys a couple of shots in there’ and we did.” {the Oklahoman}
How a blitz changed the game:
Jenni Carlson wrote a fantastic column about how being able to put presser on quarterback Brock Purdy in the first quarter swung momentum Oklahoma State’s way.
“It was just both linebackers blitzing A gap, so we knew one of us was gonna come free,” Rodriguez said. “It happened to be me, so I just ended up putting pressure on.”
It swung the momentum — and was a sign of things to come.
First, the momentum swing.
The Cowboys had a rocky start to the game. Their first three offensive possessions were not ideal.
Missed field goal. Interception. Punt.{Oklahoman}
I totally agree with this, being able to limit the danger of Brock Purdy was monumental in this game.
