Boynton talks scrimmage before Wednesday’s game:

Head coach Mike Boynton talked to the media about his team’s last intra-quad scrimmage.

“We’ve come a long ways defensively, but I’m not sure what that means. We were really, really bad defensively three weeks ago. In fact I was going to go sit in coach Iba’s chair in the arena and ask for advice because we were so far off. We’ve come a long ways defensively. It’s a concept that we actually understand now, we’re not good at it yet, but there’s some conceptualization that it matters, that we’re not going to score 95 every game, we could score 90. The other thing is that we do have — between Keylan [Boone], Chris [Harris Jr.], Ferron [Flavors] and Bryce Williams, four guys that I feel confident will be able to space the floor for Cade [Cunningham] and [Isaac Likekele] to make plays.” {24/7 Sports}

Of all the things I would expect to takeaway from this, the cowboys having issues defensively was not one of them. I’m not sure why bit that’s surprising to me. I’m happy they’ve made some progress though.

Bowman reported to start for Texas Tech Saturday:

According to head coach Matt Wells, Texas Tech will give the start to quarterback Alan Bowman when they come to Stillwater on Saturday.

If Tech gets behind, Colombi does not have the explosiveness to lead the team from behind. He may be better suited for the offense since he is more mobile, but let’s not forget Alan Bowman was a rising star under former head coach Kliff Kingsbury and looked like he was next in the as the elite gunslinger in Lubbock. {Heartland College Sports}
