It’s the final full weekend of regular season games in college football! We made it this far, and I am thankful for that. There were times I wasn’t sure we would make it, but we did. There are only two Big 12 games on the docket today after several others were canceled. Let’s take a look at our Big 12 slate and some of the best games around the nation.
No. 22 Oklahoma State at Baylor
Oklahoma State is somehow still ranked in the CFP rankings. The Cowboys are actually ranked a spot higher than they were after the loss to OU. The committee has Iowa State all the way up at No. 7 and Oklahoma State has a win over the Cyclones. OSU is 6-3 and has a chance to win a seventh game this afternoon at 2:30 against the Bears. OSU could finish with an 8-3 record if it wins its last two games.
It’s been a tumultuous first season for Coach Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears. Baylor is just 2-6 on the season and hasn’t looked good in many games so far this season. That doesn’t mean the Bears won’t be trying hard to win this game and gain some momentum to carry into next season. This really feels like a game Baylor could win.
I’m taking Oklahoma State this afternoon but I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see Baylor win this football game. It has the feel of one of those games where neither team really cares about the final outcome, whether that’s true or not. Phillip and Robert disagree with me and are picking the Baylor Bears to win this game. Those two have actually been talking for a few weeks now about how OSU would lose to Baylor, even if the Cowboys had beat TCU last weekend. Here are our full staff picks for today’s game.
Louisiana Tech @ TCU
TCU added its one non-conference game to the end of its schedule a little more than a week ago. The Horned Frogs should win this game with relative ease and finish out the season with a 6-4 and a three game winning streak. TCU should also play in a bowl game with a chance to win seven games.
This pick seems like a no-brainer, but the Horned Frogs have looked really bad at times this season. A 24-6 loss to West Virginia and 21-14 loss to Kansas State were the low points, but there have been high points as well. TCU beat Texas on the road and Oklahoma State at home. This game probably won’t be close. Our staff has TCU over Louisiana Tech today.
Games Around the Nation
The Battle for the Commonwealth Cup will take place this afternoon when Virginia Tech hosts Virginia! The Hoos will bring the Cup to Blacksburg for the game for the first time in quite awhile. Virginia won last year’s meeting after Virginia Tech had won 15-straight games in the series. I’m taking the Hokies in this one. No. 9 Georgia plays a resurgent No. 25 Missouri squad on the road today. Michigan State takes on Penn State in the morning game on ABC. Utah travels to Boulder to face No. 21 Colorado in the morning game on FOX. No. 1 Alabama takes on Arkansas at 11 a.m. on ESPN. The Army-Navy game writes another chapter in its fabled history this afternoon on CBS. No. 17 North Carolina takes on No. 10 Miami on ABC in the afternoon game. LSU takes on No. 6 Florida in the swamp tonight. Here are our staff picks from around the nation!
