Welcome to High Noon Highlights, a place to catch up on everything you missed in Oklahoma State Athletics and beyond!

It’s high noon...

Cowboy Football sets academic record:

Earlier this morning, the Big 12 announced their Academic All-Conference team. This year, the Cowboys set a school record with 28 separate players earning a spot on the first-team. In total, 43 players made the list. This was a fantastic year in the classroom for the Cowboys. Which is an impressive feat considering this weird semester. Congrats to all the players on their hard work!

The 28 first-team honorees are the most by a football program in the league’s 25-year history, beating the previous high of 26 set last season by Kansas State. Outside of women’s track and field teams, no other team in any other sport has had 28 first-team selections. The all-sports record is 32, set by Oklahoma State women’s track and field in 2019-20.

Additionally, three of OSU’s first-team members were honored with a 4.00 grade point average: Matt Hembrough, Brady Pohl and Jake Schultz. It marks just the seventh time in Big 12 history that a football program has had at least three athletes with 4.00 recognitions.{okstate.com}

Cowgirl Golfer to play in Arnold Palmer Cup:

Sophmore golfer Maja Stark will get the distinct honor of being the first from her team to play in the Arnold Palmer Cup. The tournament will start next week.

Fresh off her success at the U.S. Women’s Open, Oklahoma State sophomore Maja Stark will become the first Cowgirl to participate in the Arnold Palmer Cup on Dec. 21.

The Ryder Cup-style competition pits the best male and female American and European collegiate golfers against each other. Originally scheduled to be played July 3-5 at Lahinch Golf Club in Lahinch, Ireland, the event was moved to Dec. 21-23 to the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. {okstate}

Cowboys get two first-team All-Big 12 selections:

Yesterday, the all-conference team was annouced. And Oklahoma State ended up with two players on the list.

Oklahoma State wide receiver Tylan Wallace and offensive lineman Teven Jenkins were named first team All-Big 12, while a total of seven Cowboys were selected to the all-conference teams, announced Thursday morning by the conference office.

Wallace, who was a second-team selection last season and a first-team pick in 2018, is the fifth wide receiver in OSU history to make all-conference teams in three-straight years, joining James Washington (2015-17), Rashaun Woods (2001-03), Hart Lee Dykes (1986-88) and L.B. Asbury (1934-36). He is the first Cowboy to do so at any position since running back Justice Hill was picked from 2016-18. Wallace was also an honorable mention for 2020 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. {okstate.com}

That being said, there were agreements that players such as Tre Sterling were snubbed.
