It’s “Sports Jerseys” week on the SB Nation network. The Cowboys Ride For Free team will share their opinions on Oklahoma State jerseys throughout the afternoon and evening. Our second post involves football jerseys.

Everyone had a really hard time with this. I love the all-white look, and the black look is good too. I really like this black look as a favorite though.

I love these because as a former emo kid, I love black.
Something about it as a jersey color looks so slim, sleek and clean. I know this is supposed to be about the jersey, but football really is about the entire look. I don’t love this helmet. The orange is just off to me. I would love the black throwback with this. The Sanders jerseys were amazing and I own one too, but like Matt wrote below that one is kinda everybody’s. Plus it’s hard for me to pick a favorite that isn’t something in the common rotation. I like the way the paisley looks on this one better than against the orange version, too. It’s not as in your face. Orange is already a bright color and the print on the collar makes it look even busier. Black also looks the same on every TV too which is nice. I’m not seeing us and being like “why does it look red?”

Before OSU had more uniform combinations than Baskin Robbins has ice cream flavors, the Cowboys kept it simple. OSU and other schools are trying to keep up with the latest trends and make jerseys a bit more flashy, but a simple look always comes back as the best option. The only thing I would change about this jersey would be eliminating the lettering on top of the number(s) in front.
PS: This is a *nice* picture for the brand.

This isn’t really a straightforward answer for football because you can do so much with jerseys. I’ve always loved the all white jerseys with the white chrome-Pete helmet, because it’s what OSU wore for my first road game (at Baylor, 2016). OSU lost, but I always loved those jerseys.
The 1988 throwbacks from homecoming 2018 probably take the cake, but that’s the most obvious answer so I’m going in a different direction. In addition to the aforementioned triple whites, I’m gonna go with the triple blacks that includes the matte black helmet with orange OSU brand logo — best remembered from Bedlam 2017. Two other strong runners-up: the orange/white/black from at Texas in 2019 with the orange shadow-Pete helmet, and pretty much any white helmet in a white/orange/white equation. You simply can’t go wrong with so many OSU football jerseys.

I feel like, especially with our uniform combinations, that the uniform plays a big part of this one. Based on jersey alone though I don’t know how you could possibly eschew the 1988 Barry Sanders classics.
