Running back Chuba Hubbard and women’s basketball forward Vivian Gray are Oklahoma State’s nominees for the male and female 2020 Big 12 Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.
Hubbard, who finished eighth in Heisman Trophy voting, led the FBS in rushing yards, rushing yards per game, 200-yard rushing games and all-purpose yards per game. He also was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and earned All-Big 12 first-team selection and unanimous All-American selection.
Gray, who became the quickest Cowgirl to reach 1,000 points at 51 games, was one of 10 finalists for the Cheryl Miller Award as the best top small forward in the country. She ranked second in the Big 12 in scoring (19.3 points-per-game) for a second-consecutive year and was 22nd nationally to earn unanimous All-Big 12 first team honors for another year.
The Big 12 is unveiling each schools choice for male and female athlete of the year each weekday through May 22. Fans will then be able to vote for their pick from May 22-26 on Big12Sports.com. The fan vote will factor into the final tally for the awards.
