Oklahoma State signee Cade Cunningham is rated as the consensus top player in the nation, according to 247sports.com. Evan Daniels talked to Cunningham and asked him what it meant to be the top player in the nation.

“It means a lot to me, just to have someone think so highly of me and put me at that spot with so many other great players around me is a blessing to me,” Cunningham told Daniels. “It’s motivation to prove everybody right and stay at the top spot.”

OSU fans are certainly looking forward to watching Cunningham defend that statement with his play on the court at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Despite returning talent to go with a talented freshman class, OSU will need him to be at the top of his game in 2021.

Cunningham claimed the top spot over USC signee Evan Mobley and G-League bound Jalen Green. Mobley is a center with an array of post moves and a good two-way player who will make an impact immediately for the Trojans. Green is just as impressive and opted for the NBA’s G-League developmental program.

Cunningham fits the mold of position-less basketball the best out of all three, which has become a big trend in the NBA in recent years. Many have dubbed Cunningham as a future top selection in the NBA draft and as a player who has the potential to shape the league. His journey will continue for one year at Oklahoma State and Cowboy fans will have the first look at how Cunningham adjusts to the national stage.
