Cooper Birdwell, a three-time undefeated state wrestling champion from Lewiston, Montana, committed to Oklahoma State on Monday.

Birdwell completed his third straight undefeated season this past February when he scored a 15-2 major decision at 126 pounds in Class A against Frenchtown’s Jake Bibler, who was seeking his fourth state title.

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to wrestle and enroll at Oklahoma State University,” Birdwell wrote on Instagram. “Huge thank you to my coaches, family, and everyone else who has supported me.”

Birdwell took first in Greco-Roman and second in folkstyle this summer at Western States Regional in Farmington, Utah. He is the Cowboys’ fifth commit for the 2021 class, which features three wrestlers ranked inside the top 15 by FloWrestling.

OSU has one Montana wrestler on its roster with freshman Chance McLane of Bozeman. McLane was a three-time Class AA Montana state champion.
