It’s high noon...
How Sanders’ surgery will impact his play in 2020:
Scott Wright of the Oklahoman wrote about how QB1 having surgery on his thumb this season might cause lasting changes to his play.
As OSU nears the start of preseason camp, Sanders’ thumb will continue to be tested. And a thumb injury for a quarterback can be detrimental to nearly everything he does. Yet Sanders reported no issues at the start of spring ball in March, which lasted only three practices before the coronavirus pandemic shut down the sports world.
“My thumb’s great,” Sanders said at the time. “I’m throwing great. The spiral’s coming off nice. Velocity looked good.
“It doesn’t bother me at all.”
A torn thumb UCL — the ligament connecting the bones on the inside of the largest thumb joint — is more generally known as skier’s thumb, because the injury is so common in that sport. {The Oklahoman}
Burns Hargis meets with Big 12:
OSU president Burns Hargis has been involved in a lot of decisions regarding NCAA sports during the pandemic. He was involved in yet another one this week.
During a phone connection with the Tulsa World, Hargis was asked whether he prefers the 10-game model – the “nine plus one.”
“There’s just a whole realm of options,” Hargis replied. “There’s still a while to go before we get to the failsafe on this thing.
“I’ve got my ideas on the (length of the season), but I feel I owe it to my colleagues on the board to express them on Monday before I talk about it publicly. Hopefully, we’ll have coordination with the other (Power Five) conferences on how championships will be determined and whether we end up going past the first of the year to finish the season.” {Tulsa World}
Teven Jenkins getting attention from NFL scouts:
Oklahoma State hasn’t had a OL drafted since @RussellOkung went No. 6 overall in 2010. Drought ends this year with underrated RT Teven Jenkins. A couple NFL teams we’ve spoken to were surprised by how good Jenkins was on junior tape. Starter-level talent. #TheDraftStartsInMOBILE pic.twitter.com/pGeM6OnuHI
