Three former Oklahoma State golfers made the cut after the second round Friday at the PGA Championship, the first golf major of the year.
Alex Noren, Matthew Wolff and Viktor Hovland all advanced to the third round at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.
Noren followed up his first-round 67 with a 1-under 69, which included three birdies and two bogeys. He’s tied for 11th at 4 under. Wolff made a big jump by 17 spots into a tie for 16th at 3 under, with a 2-under 68 that featured three front-nine birdies and a bogey on No. 11. The duo will tee off together for the third round at 3:50 p.m. Saturday.
Hovland dropped 11 spots into a tie for 31st (1 under) after a 1-over 71 with two birdies and three bogeys. He will be paired with Duke grad Kevin Streelman for the third round and tee off at 2:10 p.m.
Talor Gooch and Rickie Fowler both missed the cut by one stroke. Gooch had his second 1-over 71 of the tournament, and Fowler missed a 6-inch tap-in at No. 6 that ended up costing him.
