Saturday afternoon Oklahoma State point guard Avery Anderson III announced via social media that he is declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft. However, Anderson is leaving a pathway to return to OSU, He is declaring without signing an agent, which means he is free to return to Oklahoma State after the process should he so choose.
Essentially, what this is is an opportunity for Anderson to see what the process is like. He can be evaluated by teams and figure out what he needs to do in order to get himself NBA-ready. That being said, that doesn’t mean that he will definitely be coming back either. If he does well enough he could end up getting drafted. Overall this will be a fantastic opportunity for Anderson whatever ends up happening.
Anderson had a really good season but really came alive towards the end of the year. In Oklahoma State’s last two games he scored 21 and 16 points respectively. In a season where Cade Cunningham was the center of attention, Anderson was still able to manage a double-digit point total with 12.2 points a game. It will be interesting to see the feedback he gets.
