High Noon Highlights (8/9): Pokes in the pros shine as NFL practices start

Welcome to High Noon Highlights, a place to catch up on everything you missed in Oklahoma State Athletics and beyond!

NFL: NY Giants Training Camp Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

It’s high noon....

Rodarius Williams doing well with Giants:

As former Cowboys are competing to earn their spots on NFL Rosters, cornerback Rodarius Williams is working hard to get himself on the Giants’ radar.

“I feel like in this game....you definitely have to go out there and show guys you’re no scared. You go out there quiet as a mouse they’re gonna feel like they got the upper hand on you.”

Williams was able to practice with the 1s and according to reports did fairly well. We’ll see if Williams is able to earn a spot with the Giants.

Devin Harper looking to make impact:

After an up and down career and being behind some super talented players, Devin Harper is getting his chance. In his sixth season, Harper will be given the opportunity to make his mark on Cowboy football.

“It’s been a process, but I mean, it’s always gonna be a process,” Harper said Sunday. “Everybody’s time is not gonna be at the same time. I’ve just been waiting it out. They waited on me, and basically just gave me my chance now and I just gotta make the best of it.” {Pistols Firing}

Cade Cunningham makes Summer League Debut:

Our sister site for the Detroit Pistons DetroitBadBoys.com wrote a great recap of former Oklahoma State stand-out Cade Cunningham's debut with the Pistons last night in the summer league game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In general, I thought Cade Cunningham was “as advertised” even with him not shooting the ball particularly well after a hot start. There were three areas of his scoring that stood out to me in this game in one way or another. His 3-point shooting, which as I mentioned, started out hot and then cooled down considerably. His post up game, which we did not get the full experience due to fouls or inability to get him the ball, but is something I think we are going to see plenty of in his rookie year. Finally, his to-the-rim game and, in particular, how he handled playing through contact. {Detroit Bad Boys}

This is a great piece that is worth checking out!

Matthew Wolff and Viktor Hovland Compete in PGA Feel-Good Field:

Former Oklahoma State golf teammates Matthew Wolff and Viktor Hovland competed for St.Jude’s over the weekend in the FedEx St. Jude Invitational Golfers.

As a partner with the tournament, St. Jude Children’s Hospital is on the receiving end of many charitable dollars raised by the event.

The Memphis-based hospital does not charge patients for care, and the FedEx Saint Jude invitational sees most of its invitations to golf biggest names answered because it is a little bit different. {O’Colly}
