Zane Flores announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Easter Sunday. Flores, a 6-foot-2 quarterback from Gretna, Nebraska, becomes the fifth member of OSU’s class of 2023.
Flores is a three-star recruit, ranked No. 776 in the nation. While Flores is ranked lower than quarterbacks Oklahoma State is signed in the past, many view Flores as underrated. That much was conveyed in a feature story done on the Nebraska signal caller by Mitch Sherman in The Athletic last month. The story mentioned Flores’ outstanding footwork and mentioned the Greta star has received interest from Ohio State and other major programs.
The offer list for Flores includes Indiana, Kansas, K-State, Missouri, Pitt and Washington among others. Despite a lengthy list of offers, Flores received his first college offer from Bowling Green back on February 7, meaning it took just more than two months for Flores to issue a commitment from the date of his first offer.
The Cowboys have secured an underrated quarterback fairly early in the recruiting cycle and can now focus their efforts on other positions. Oklahoma State enters 2022 with former four-star recruits Spencer Sanders and Garret Rangel on the roster, as well as Gunnar Gundy and Peyton Thompson. By the time Flores joins the QB room, it is likely to be led by Rangel and Gundy.
Flores is OSU’s fourth-highest ranked recruit for this cycle and brings the Cowboys’ 2023 class up nine spots to No. 25 nationally.
