*sigh* Man I’m getting really sick and tired of writing these losing recaps.

The Cowboys were once again struck by the curse of the 100th win, as the Cyclones came in and beat up on an already-stricken Oklahoma State team. The Cowboys dropped to 10-6 on the season, and continue to be winless in the Big 12, having dropped four straight.

The Cyclones started out on a 14-4 run, and the Cowboys had their work cut out for them from the get-go.

OSU did a good job getting back into the game however, and went into halftime only down a point 48-47.

The Cowboys hit plenty of big shots, and the crowd was into the game, but just as OSU hit a big shot, Iowa State hit a big shot. The crowd wanted to keep going and turn the rowdy into a frenzy, but the Cowboys D (or lack thereof) prevented that from happening.

The Cyclones ended the game hitting nine straight shots. Ouch. To add insult to injury, seven of those shots were layups. That is unacceptable. If seven of those shots were contested threes, and only two were layups, I would be more inclined to accept that Iowa State had a good shooting night. But not seven layups. The defense was abysmal, and is very difficult to watch, especially since that was what Coach Underwood preached and we saw during non-conference.

When was the last time you saw this? Oklahoma State won the battle in...

  • FG %
  • FT %
  • Rebounds
  • Second chance points
  • Bench points
  • Points in paint

...AND STILL LOST. That’s not easy to do. Here’s a look at the full stats.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Cowboys, as they travel to Lawrence to try and upset the #1 (in waiting) team in the nation, then return home to face the Kansas State Wildcats in a week. Like I said, once we get over this 100th win bump, I think good things will happen, until then, we are stuck writing sad recaps.
