Oklahoma State dismissed redshirt sophomore guard Michael Weathers and freshmen forwards Maurice Calloo and Kentrevious Jones for a violation of team rules, the program announced Wednesday morning.

“We have a standard of behavior that we expect from everyone in our program and we’re going to move forward with the people who want to abide by those standards,” OSU head coach Mike Boynton said in a statement. “I wish the others well as they move on.”

Update as of 7:10 p.m.:

It’s believed the dismissals are linked to an ongoing investigation of a Jan. 1 vandalism of two vehicles with BB guns in Stillwater.

According to a Stillwater Police Department public information report, obtained by the Tulsa World in an open records request for reports involving the three players, the total damage of the two vehicles totaled $5,500.

According to a Stillwater Police Department public information report, officers investigated a reported vandalism that included two shattered back door windows, damage to a 2015 Toyota Rav-4 and a 2011 Chevy Cruze. The Rav-4 sustained approximately 30 BB holes/dents in the windows and body on both sides, totaling $5,000 in damage. The Cruze sustained approximately three BB holes in the windshield, totaling $500 in damage. The incident occurred between 11:30 and 11:45 p.m. on Jan. 1.

Update as of 4:36 p.m.:

Boynton talked with media Wednesday afternoon after OSU announced the players were removed from the team. He said there was a “situation” involving the three that did not fit into the way they want to build their program.

Weathers was a regular player in OSU’s rotation after joining the team after a two-month suspension for his September arrest for stealing a woman’s wallet at Stillwater bar. Weathers pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in November.

He averaged 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists this season.

Jones missed six games this season for two separate disciplinary suspensions. He had 10 points, 11 rebounds and an assist and a steal.

Boynton has now dismissed five players in his two seasons as OSU’s coach. He dismissed Davon Dillard and Zack Dawson in December 2017.

Boynton is now left with nine players on the Cowboys’ roster, including freshman walk-on Luke Major.
