This fall, Oklahoma State will be Brooklyn-bound for the second time in three years, this time to compete in the NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament. OSU will be joined by Syracuse, Ole Miss, and Penn State at the Thanksgiving week tournament.

OSU took part in the Legends Classic back in 2017, which also took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. OSU finished 3rd in that tournament, losing to then No. 16 Texas A&M, 72-55, before beating Pittsburgh 73-67.

Head Coach Mike Boynton is a Brooklyn native, and has spoken before about the impact the city had on him.

“It made me who I am,” the Oklahoma State coach said of his days in the New York City borough. “Not just (Bishop) Loughlin High School, but growing up in Brooklyn. It helped me develop a sense of competitiveness that I don’t know if I would’ve been able to get other places without it.

As far as the opponents, Oklahoma State missed playing Penn State in the Legends Classic back in 2017. The two teams have only met once previously, in a 1952 holiday tournament.

The Cowboys and Ole’ Miss have met twice previously, but not since the University was known as Oklahoma A&M.

Oklahoma State has a history of facing Syracuse in New York, beating the then No. 4 ranked Orange 74-60 in Madison Square Garden back in 2004. OSU was the victor again two years later, beating Syracuse 72-68 in MSG.

Official dates, times, and match-ups have not yet been released for the tournament.
