Thomas Dziagwa, Cameron McGriff lead Oklahoma State to 81-59 win at Texas

The Cowboys have won three straight and four of their past five after an 0-8 start in Big 12 play.

Thomas Dziagwa and Cameron McGriff each scored 19 points, and Oklahoma State ended their regular season with an 81-59 thumping against Texas on Saturday at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin.

The Cowboys (17-14, 7-11 Big 12) dominated early and often racing out to a 22-point halftime lead against the Longhorns (19-12, 9-9), who had won five straight. OSU has won three straight and four of its past five after an 0-8 start in Big 12 play.

Isaac Likekele posted a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. He also dished out a game-high five assists. Lindy Waters III chipped in on the glass with seven rebounds, including six on the defensive end, while McGriff grabbed four defensive boards.

Dziagwa, who was 12-for-12 from the field, drained four of his five 3-pointers in the first half and OSU shot a remarkable 61 percent from the field compared to Texas’ dismal 25 percent.

The Longhorns pulled it together somewhat in the second half, but the Cowboys’ lead was too much to overcome. Kai Jones led Texas with 20 points and Matt Coleman had 18.

The Cowboys will be the No. 8 seed in the Big 12 tournament and play No. 9 seed Iowa State on Wednesday at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Tip-off time is set for 6 p.m. with the game broadcasted on ESPNU.
