Oklahoma State coach Mike Boynton is thankful for having the chance to get to know Eddie Sutton.
Boynton, who will enter his fourth season at the helm this fall at OSU, released a statement Sunday morning expressing his gratitude toward Sutton for making the Cowboys program what it is today and showing support for him. Sutton, who led OSU to two Final Four appearances and won more than 800 games as a college coach, died Saturday in Tulsa. He was 84.
“Thank you, Coach, for setting the bar in this program, thank you for showing what the word coach really meant, and thank you for your endorsement,” Boynton’s statement read. “No other endorsement or support meant as much... ever! Rest in Heaven.”
One of the greatest of all time. @thacoachmike will always keep coach Sutton's legacy alive.#LetsWork I #GoPokes pic.twitter.com/5DUIAcfbg9
