While we still wait for the final Oklahoma State Men’s Basketball schedule for 2020, there is some news regarding the Cowboys’ 2021 non-conference schedule.
According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Oklahoma State will participate in the 2021 Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York. They will join Louisville, Gonzaga, and Providence.
OSU was reportedly set to participate in the Legends Classic in 2021 with Northwestern, UCLA, and Virginia, but according to Rothstein will no longer do so.
No offense to UCLA, Virginia, or Northwestern, but the Empire Classic line-up is definitely a more challenging field. Not to mention, OSU is a combined 3-10 against the other three Empire Classic participants. That includes an 0-6 record against Gonzaga and a 1-3 record against Louisville.
With what we already know about the 2020 non-conference schedule, this means that OSU and Louisville will potentially face off in neutral site competitions for two years in a row.
