Indiana cornerback and two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection Michael Hunter will transfer to Oklahoma State. Because he will be a senior, Hunter will not have to sit out a year due to ineligibility. Oklahoma State has had success with secondary transfers before, most notably with former Cowboys Tyler Patmon and Josh Furman.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have recently offered Junior QB Nick Starkel from Liberty Christian School in Argyle, TX. Starkel only played seven games this past year as result of a shoulder injury, but still threw for 1,600 yards and 19 touchdowns. We are just a couple of days away from the kick of the first college football bowl game of the season! Here's a complete schedule and TV watch guide with time, dates, channel numbers, and more!
USA Today has released their list of highest paid college football assistant coaches from around the country. Oklahoma State's own Glenn Spencer is the 50th highest paid assistant at $550k. Mike Yurcich just missed making the Top 100 at 111th, making $400k. That's chump change in comparison to Virginia Tech's Bud Foster though, he's the highest paid assistant in the land at $1,369,500 per year.
Baylor's Phil Bennett is number 1 in the Big 12, and 9th overall, hauling in $897,926 per year. That's without known bonus potential even! Up next for the Big 12 is Mike Stoops making $856,400 per year. Yes, that's the same Mike Stoops several OU fans were calling to be fired after OU's embarrassing Bedlam loss. Yikes!
Here's how the Big 12 stacks up against each other in total assistant staff salaries.
1. Oklahoma ($4,077,900)
2. Texas ($3,841,640)
3. West Virginia ($2,884,000)
4. Oklahoma State ($2,837,000)
5. Kansas State ($2,813,325)
6. Texas Tech ($2,155,100)
7. Iowa State ($2,110,900)
8. Kansas ($2,105,000)
Baylor and TCU's total assistant coaching salaries were unavailable.
Does anyone do more with less than Kansas State? They're like the person you see on TV that can take $10 to the grocery store and walk out with 20 carts full of food. When you try to do it though, you get exactly 1 two-liter Coke, a frozen pizza, and as much Ramen Noodle as you can get with what's left over.
Head over to the link to see how they compare with some of the top schools in the country.
Remember the BCS when we used to argue about just one team being left out. Now the CFB Playoff is here, two teams are left out, and a conference gets the shaft. Much better.
The Big 12 Conference was ranked #1 in ESPN's Conference Power Rankings, but somehow the College Football Playoff Committee left the conference out of the Playoff altogether.
It's ironic that it was the 2011 season that was the driving factor for the #CFBPlayoff, yet now that it's here, the #Big12 is hosed again. Only now, it's two teams getting the shaft. This is much better!
