Oklahoma State will be without one of its dynamic defensive players for the Texas Bowl on Friday in Houston.

Sophomore safety Kolby Harvell-Peel sustained a knee injury during the final play of OSU’s 34-16 loss to rival Oklahoma on Nov. 30 which will keep him out of action against Texas A&M, OSU coach Mike Gundy said Thursday.

Harvel-Peel was named to the All-Big 12 Conference first team Dec. 5 and garnered votes for Big 12 defensive player of the year and earned honorable mention for the award. He tied for third in the conference with five interceptions, and he broke up 13 passes to go with two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 71 tackles.

Harvel-Peel, who is from College Station, Texas, picked up his game in the final five games of the season with 28 tackles, four interceptions and 10 pass breakups.
