Oklahoma State got some great news in regards to their defensive line depth. While coaches felt confident that defensive lineman Israel Antwine would be granted a hardship waiver after transferring from Colorado in January, it wasn’t a sure thing.
Until now.
The Oklahoman’s Scott Wright is reporting that the Millwood, Oklahoma product has been granted a hardship waiver by the NCAA and will be eligible to play immediately this upcoming season.
According to Antwine’s family, the sophomore applied for the waiver after having people in the Colorado program he was close to depart.
“Antwine had applied for a hardship exception after transferring following his freshman season at Colorado, when his head coach, position coach and academic advisor all left the program.
“Israel was feeling discombobulated,” Dwayne Antwine said in January of his son, who deals with a form of autism. “All those people were gone, and it didn’t feel the same to him.”
Dylan Buckingham of KFOR was able to confirm the news.

While this news was somewhat expected, it’s nice to know for sure that Antwine will be able to play next year. This, along with the addition of graduate transfer defensive end Kyle Junior, helps provide depth to a defensive line that was replacing it’s top five players from last season.
