Oklahoma State received three-voting points in the Associated Press’ top 25 preseason poll Monday. Matt Brown of The Athletic was the lone voter to place the Cowboys in the top 25, ranking them at No. 23.

Reigning national champion Clemson is No. 1 after winning the program’s second title in three seasons. Alabama, who fell 44-16 to Clemson in the College Football Playoff championship, is No. 2. The Crimson Tide were the preseason No. 1 the past three seasons.

Georgia and Oklahoma are Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Ohio State, LSU, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame and Texas round out the top 10. Notre Dame is the lowest ranked team from last season’s CFP semifinalists.

No. 21 Iowa State joins Oklahoma and Texas as the only ranked Big 12 schools. TCU (57) and West Virginia (3) also received votes.

The Cowboys also received votes in SB Nation’s FanPulse preseason poll. OU was No. 4 in both polls, while Texas and Iowa State were both ranked one spot higher than the AP poll.
