Watch: Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy records message to help prevent spread of coronavirus

The Cowboys coach wants people to practice social distancing and students to focus on academics.

Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy recorded a message Saturday about COVID-19, and what people should be doing to help slow the spread of the coronavirus that has shut down sports, schools and other aspects of every day life in the United States and around the globe.

Gundy, 52, wore an orange “COWBOYS” T-shirt and sat in a wooden chair while delivering his message for people to practice social distancing and for students to focus on academics.

“Students, how’s everybody doing?” I hope everybody is safe, hope your family’s safe,” he said. “Hope you guys are keeping your distance, hope you’re washing your hands and not touching your face.

“We’re gonna get through this, all of us are. Keep working hard. I know you’re gonna do distant learning, how about finishing up strong? Wouldn’t that be awesome to raise your grades doing distance learning? Spend time with your family, work hard in school, do things that are going to continue to make Stillwater High School, the community of Stillwater, the state of Oklahoma and the United States, which is the greatest country in the world. You guys are the future, OK? Keep working hard, we’re gonna get through this. Make a difference.”
