Oklahoma State has five more active COVID-19 cases on its football team prior to the team’s season opener against Tulsa on Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater.
OSU announced its latest coronavirus testing results Monday afternoon, with 19 total active cases, including seven football players, from data compiled through Sept. 4. Cowboys football coach Mike Gundy said Monday a “couple players” have opted out of the season over safety concerns about coronavirus, but declined to provide names out of respect for the players’ privacy.
The Cowgirls soccer team has one active case ahead of their season opener Friday against Bedlam rival Oklahoma in Norman. Eleven other cases are active in non-fall sports.
In total, OSU has reported 101 positive tests since testing began June 1.
