Oklahoma State basketball: Marcus Smart makes Team USA’s 2019 FIBA World Cup roster

The former Oklahoma State standout will compete for a world title.

Former Oklahoma State standout Marcus Smart will play for the United States in the FIBA World Cup next month in China. Smart was one of 12 players named to Team USA’s roster Saturday by USA Basketball.

Smart will be joined by Celtics teammates Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker.

Team USA, the two-time reigning World Cup champions, will continue training camp Aug. 25-28 in Sydney, Australia, with an exhibition game Aug. 26 against Canada.

The 32-team FIBA World Cup will be Aug. 31-Sept. 15 in China. Team USA is in Group E in Shanghai with Czech Republic, Japan and Turkey.
