Rickie Fowler, Matthew Wolff raise $1,555,000 for CDC Foundation

Golf is back, and for a great cause.

While Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson ending up winning the charity skins tournament and with it $1,850,000 for the American Nurses Foundation, the team of former Oklahoma State golfers, Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff gave it their all and earned $1,150,000 for the CDC Foundation.

Before we recap the action, I’m gonna throw in this reminder of how the rules worked.

On top of the money that they raised from skins, Wolff made both Taylor Made Long Drive Bonuses for $450,000.

This kid has got a bright future on the PGA Tour. He went toe to toe with some of the best players in the game today and looked like he belonged.

A total of $1,053,959 was raise in viewers donations during the event as well.

It was a fantastic round of golf. McIlroy and Johnson started the day winning five out of the first six skins before Fowler and Wolff come roaring back on shots like these from Fowler on No.9.

Rickie would keep the birdies coming on No.11.

Honestly though the best part of this is the commentary. The “Can I get a hiya!” from Wolff is classic.

Fowler would end the day with most birdies with seven, these were worth $270,000 total courtesy of Farmers Insurance.

From the back nine until the end, the momentum would stay in favor of Fowler/Wolff. Until they tied on No.18 and when back to 17 for a shot at 6 skins and over 1 million dollars. Wolff ended up getting within striking distance but McIlroy was just a hair closer and their team ending up winning the match.

Fowler and Wolff were underdogs in this one but they certainly didn’t play like it. This was a fantastic event and it was fun to see Oklahoma State represented so well.
