Football Recruiting: Oklahoma State Makes the Cut For Two 2020 Studs

OSU is in the running for the top running back in the class

247Sports

Oklahoma State got some good news earlier this week as two of their top targets in the 2020 class named their top schools thus far and both included the Cowboys.

2020 5-star Running Back Zachary Evans

The top rated running back in the class and one of the most highly sought after recruits, with 37 total offers, named his top-11. Along with Oklahoma State, the Houston, Texas prospect included Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, OU, LSU, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Washington.

Evans has already made an unofficial visit to Stillwater, along with a number of other schools that made the Top-11.

The 6-foot, 205-pound back had an impressive junior season. He totaled nearly 1,800 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns and helped lead North Shore to the 6A Division 1 State Championship title.

We’ve seen this before though, a highly rated recruit including Oklahoma State in a top-10, even a top-5, without there ever really being a shot that the Cowboys would land him. That said, Oklahoma State knows what it needs to do to help sway him; have a good performance from the offensive line in 2019.

“My biggest factor is the offensive line,” Evans told 247 at the end of last year on what he’s looking for. “I don’t want to go to a school without big boys upfront. I want some bullies. I don’t want to run behind any kids.”

To be honest, I have a hard time seeing Evans not end up at either Texas or Texas A&M. But there’s a long way to go so we’ll certainly keep an eye on him.

2020 4-star Offensive Tackle Damieon George

One thing that could help the Cowboys land Evans, would be landing his teammate Damieon George. The North Shore tackle is the 24th-rated player at his position.

He has 22 offers, but announced his Top-10 this week including OSU, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Penn State, Missouri, and Ole Miss. It’s basically the same list as Evans minus Washington, which could mean the two are looking to end up in the same place. Though, I think just about every recruit would be happy to end up at one of those schools.

Henson has continued to improve Oklahoma State’s offensive line in recruiting and already has one 4-star offensive tackle committed for 2020. Adding a guy like George would be huge... literally. He’s 6-foot-6, 320-pounds.
