For the second day in a row, the Oklahoma State coaching staff got good news, as they picked up a commitment from a defensive prospect for 2020.

Three-star John “Sawyer” Goram-Welch announced Tuesday evening he would be committing to the Cowboys.

“First I would like to say I appreciate all the relationships I’ve built with coaches over this process,” Goram-Welch said and I’m glad to say I’m officially committed to Oklahoma State.”

The senior defensive tackle out of Longview, Texas had narrowed his list of 14 offers down to just two schools, before choosing Oklahoma State over SMU. Other schools that were vying to land Goram-Welch included Purdue, Illinois, Texas Tech, Oregon State, Memphis, and Air Force.

Goram-Welch started on that Longview Lobos team that went undefeated last season including winning the state title. Along the way he racked up 65 tackles, including 15 tackles for loss and five sacks.

So far this year, the Lobos remain a perfect 6-0. Goram-Welch has started in all six, and already has 32 total tackles, including eight TFLs and four sacks.

Goram-Welch is OSU’s 17 commit for 2020 and second defensive tackle in the class, joining three-star Grant Mahon out of Denton, Texas. Goram-Welch is the No. 75 defensive tackle nationally and No. 129 overall prospect in Texas based on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.
