Oklahoma State’s 2020 recruiting class received some positive news Wednesday morning when three-star linebacker Mason Cobb announced he is signing with the Cowboys.

Cobb chose OSU over his other top teams — Louisville and Arizona — as well as offers from Colorado, Nevada, UNLV and Utah State among others.

OSU came onto Cobb late in the process, but came on strong once they did. The Provo, Utah prospect made his official visit to Stillwater this past weekend, which had a big impact on his decision.

“It just felt like home when I got there,” Cobb told Adam Gorney of Rivals.com. “It was super nice... When I got there I was surprised and the facilities are amazing and the coaching staff is super friendly and their strength staff is unreal also. The things they do to help the players get stronger and get the rest they need is very important to me. I loved it. I loved the hometown feel and it was a college town. It was awesome.”

As for what kind of player OSU is getting, Blair Angulo of 247Sports describes Cobb as a “strong tackler who wraps up well... attacks gaps at full speed and punishes ballcarriers. Aware in coverage and able to close on the football. Reads quarterbacks to jump routes and sit in zones. Good reflexes on throws over the middle.”

Cobb is rated as the No. 14 player in the state of Utah and the 69th ranked inside-linebacker for 2020. He joins fellow linebacker signees Jeff Roberson and Cole Thompson.
