Despite the start of Spring football and OSU’s Pro Day, Cowboy coaches are still working hard on the recruiting trail. That includes two new offers and landing an in-state stud as a PWO.
Oklahoma State Lands Tulsa Union QB
It looks like we can add another quarterback to OSU’s roster with the commitment of Tulsa Union QB Peyton Thompson.
Thompson made the announcement on Twitter earlier this week.
“I would first like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me and allowing me to play the game that I love. I want to thank my family and especially my parents for raising me and giving me every opportunity to be successful. Coach Fred and Coach Roepke, I can’t thank you guys enough for giving me an opportunity and not only making me a better player, but more importantly a better man. I would also like the thank the rest of my coaches, teammates, teachers, and all of Union High School for an unforgettable high school experience. It is now time for the next chapter and I am excited and blessed to announce that I will be furthering my education and football career at Oklahoma STate University. Go Pokes.”
Thompson chose to be a Preferred Walk-On at OSU over offers from Eastern Michigan, Columbia, and Abilene Christian. 247Sports ranked Thompson as a 3-star prospect and the 68th-ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2019 class.
At Tulsa Union, Thompson went 21-4 in two years as the starting quarterback, including leading the team to a Class 6AI runner-up finish as a junior. He threw for 4,796 yards and 59 touchdowns over two seasons.
Dickey Offers Kansas Offensive Lineman
Charlie Dickey has wasted no time, offering his third offensive lineman recruit since he arrived in Stillwater. This time, it’s 2021 offensive guard Jaeden Roberts.
Roberts is a 6-foot-6 offensive tackle who has been picking up steam on the recruiting trail recently. He boasts seven offers, including OSU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas State, and Minnesota.
The St. Thomas Aquinas and Lenexa, Kansas, product should expect his offer list to grow after a good sophomore season. He’s already got a pretty lengthy list compared to some of his class of 2021 peers.
He uses his size to dominate his opponents. Roberts is a capital “B” Bully, finishing blocks 20 yards down field. He legitimately looks like Quinton Aaron playing Michael Oher in The Blind Side in some of these clips. Check it out.
Cowboys Offer TCU Commit
The Cowboys were just a few days late in their offer to 3-star 2020 cornerback Jahdae Barron.
The final offer for March up to this point goes to Jahdae Barron. Gundy got the offer out on March 8, just a day after Barron committed to TCU and just six days after the Frogs offered Barron. His quick commitment to TCU suggests that this is an offer that Barron had been waiting on for a while.
The Pflugerville Connally product is 5-11 and 175 pounds, good size for a corner. While committed to the Frogs, Barron’s only other current offer is OSU according to 247sports. Now that Barron holds multiple offers, his commitment could be swayed if Gundy makes a strong enough push. His offer list will continue to grow as he heads into his senior year.
A number of prospect have also been in town this week, including a graduate transfer wide receiver. Check back this weekend for details.
