Linebacker is a position of importance in Oklahoma State’s 2020 recruiting class, which is why it’s good news its top outside linebacker target has the Cowboys in his final-8.
Three-star Baton Rouge, Louisiana, prospect Jabar Triplett announced the final cut to his recruiting list in a tweet Monday night.
These are my top schools that I will be focusing on, I will be committing on October 13 stay tuned pic.twitter.com/wLEwNGzcn4

Along with OSU are Arizona, Texas Tech, Colorado State, South Alabama, Louisiana Tech, McNeese and Southern. Triplett last released a list in June that had OSU as his top-ranked school. Since then he has cut out Louisville, Memphis, Tulsa, Southeastern, Nicholls, Louisiana-Monroe, Grambling and Texas State. However, Arizona is a new addition. The Wildcats have come on strong since offering him July 29.
There’s no word on if OSU remains the front-runner here, but you have to think they remain a strong contender. Triplett’s visit to Stillwater back in June was a positive one, they remain the first school listed in his new tweet, and they remain a top target for the Cowboys.
“It was a good experience,” Triplett said of his trip to Stillwater. “It was my first official (visit) and I really did enjoy everything out there...The facilities, they were nice. Everything i saw caught my eye.”
The 6-foot, 215-pound Triplett racked up 121 total tackles and 11 sacks for Southern Lab last season, helping them to a 12-2 record. He also had one forced fumble and five interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns. He is the 58th ranked player in Louisiana and the 98th ranked outside linebacker.
In his Monday tweet, Triplett says he plans to commit Oct. 13 so OSU still has some recruiting to do.
With three senior linebackers on the roster this season, in Philip Redwine-Bryant, Calvin Bundage and Kevin Henry, and two more redshirt juniors, linebacker is a priority in this class. OSU has two three-star linebackers committed for 2020 in Cole Thompson and Jeff Roberson, meaning they’ll look to take at least one if not two more linebackers in this class.
