It was a BIG, HUGE, GARGANTUAN basketball recruiting weekend for Oklahoma State this past Saturday, with 2020 No. 2 overall prospect Cade Cunningham, four-star Rondel Walker, and three-star Mike Miles all in town.
Among them also, was four-star power forward JT Thor, who not only recently named OSU among his top-five schools, but reclassified for the class of 2020.
Well, something must have happened on Saturday, because as of Sunday, the college basketball recruiting world all feels like Thor (which is such an awesome name) is going to eventually call Oklahoma State home.
All six crystal ball predictions on 247 Sports for the star power forward are for the Cowboys, with all of them showing up since last Wednesday. That includes a vote from Jerry Meyer, 247Sports’ Director of Basketball Scouting.
But the predictions don’t end at 247. Both forecasts on Rivals are for Oklahoma State and are coming from Corey Evans and Eric Bossi.
No, predictions like these aren’t full-proof and can change. But it’s good to know that at least right now, OSU is in the driver’s seat for a guy I really hope lands in Stillwater.
Cade Cunningham is obviously the top-target. But after him? To me it’s Thor. OSU has brought in a lot of good guards, and will continue to do so.
But as far as big men go, they could use the help.
Cam McGriff’s eligibility expires at the end of the this season. That leaves Yor Anei, the Boone twins (though mostly Kalib), and freshman Hidde Roessink. To land a guy of Thor’s talent — a top-10 power forward in the class of 2020 — would immediately upgrade the forward position to a big strength.
Whether or not he commits still remains to be seen, and there has been no indication as to when that might happen. But it’s a good sign for Mike Boynton and the Cowboys, and one to keep an eye on.
