Running back is one of the most important positions for Oklahoma State Cowboys’s 2021 recruiting class and they received good news on that front Thursday morning.

Four-star prospect Tavierre Dunlap out of Del Valle, Texas, named the Cowboys one his final eight teams in a Twitter post. OSU was joined by Arizona State, Michigan, Nebraska, USC, Utah, Virginia Tech and Washington.

Among the other 27 schools who offered but didn’t make the cut are Arizona, Cal, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, TCU, Texas Tech and UCLA.

While 247Sports’ consensus ranking has Dunlap as a three-star, the site’s ratings has him as a four-star prospect and the No. 14 running back in the 2021 class.

Dunlap ran for 1,341 yards and 20 touchdowns on 128 carries during his junior season. He also caught 20 receptions for 208 yards and three scores.

Dunlap was able to make an unofficial visit to OSU before the recruiting dead period hit, but he was in Stillwater for a Junior Day in early February. He has also taken unofficial visits to SMU and Texas A&M.

OSU has one running back commit for 2021 in three-star Jaden Nixon. As we mentioned, running back is an important position group for OSU in this class, with the Cowboys likely to bring in up to three.
