The No. 3-ranked Oklahoma State’s wrestling team hits the road again this week as they face West Virginia and Pittsburgh on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

The Cowboys (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) are unbeaten in 13 duals against the Mountaineers (2-9, 2-2), which includes a 7-0 mark in Big 12 conference action. Friday night’s dual will be the first in the season series for Tim Flynn, who took over the WVU program this season after leaving Edinboro. OSU went 3-0 against the Scotts with Flynn at the helm.

OSU enters this season’s dual after two wins at No. 25 Princeton and No. 24 Rutgers last weekend. The Cowboys have two wrestlers ranked No. 2 in their respective weight classes with 133-pounder Daton Fix and heavyweight Derek White.

Fix will wrestle No. 17 Matt Schmitt in the only ranked vs. ranked match of the dual Friday. The undefeated Cowboy moved up three spots in the national rankings after a 3-2 win in sudden victory 2 over then-No. 2 ranked Nick Suriano of Rutgers. Schmitt improved to 11-0 this season, with a technical fall victory over Oklahoma’s Anthony Madrigal on Jan. 4. Fix also recorded a tech fall win against Madrigal earlier this season.

WVU’s other ranked wrestler is No. 20 Nick Klussis at 165. Redshirt junior Andrew Shomers remains the 165 starter for OSU with All-American Chandler Rogers out with an injury suffered earlier this month at the Southern Scuffle tournament.

Another intriguing matchup will be at 149 pounds, where No. 4 Kaden Gfeller looks to bounce back after dropping matches to the top two ranked wrestlers. The OSU redshirt freshman faces WVU redshirt senior Christian Monserrat, who upset then-No. 4 Justin Oliver of North Carolina State last weekend.
