Oklahoma State wrestling: Boo Lewallen fails skin check, misses 2020 Southern Scuffle

The redshirt junior was slated as the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

Oklahoma State redshirt junior Boo Lewallen will not wrestle at the Southern Scuffle after failing to pass a skin check.

Lewallen, who is ranked No. 4 in the country at 149 pounds, was among five Cowboys to receive a No. 1 seed for the tournament before he was pulled from participating due to unknown reasons. He’s 9-0 this season after missing most of last season with a shoulder injury that resulted in him receiving a NCAA granted medical hardship waiver for another year of eligibility.

The Cowboys will have freshman Brevin Balmeceda, who won the freshman/sophomore Oklahoma City Open title in November, compete unattached at 149. He was 331-18 during high school, a five-time national champion and a 2017 Super 32 champion.
