Five wrestlers were left off Oklahoma State’s updated roster Friday for the 2020-21 season on OSU’s athletics website. Bear Hughes and Triston Wills announced earlier this offseason that they would transfer to Arkansas-Little Rock.
125: Rhett Golowenski of Tuttle, OK
125: Dallas Wilson of Wichita, KS
133: Conner Wilson of Allen, TX
141: Brevin Balmeceda of Miami, FL
184: Alex Kauffman of Vinita, OK
Balmeceda, the top recruit from OSU’s 2019 class, is the most surprising name among the apparent departures. He would’ve had to beat out redshirt seniors Kaid Brock, a two-time All-American, or Dusty Hone for the 141 spot this season but Balmeceda figured to be an option for the 2021-22 season.
With Golowenski and Dallas Wilson out, redshirt freshman Colten Klein is OSU’s lone 125 pounder with college experience having appeared in three open tournaments last season: Oklahoma City, Bob Smith and Lindenwood. True freshmen Jakason Burks, Trevor Mastrogiovanni and Alexander Yokubatis could also be options at 125 until February when Daton Fix can return from his one-year doping suspension at 125 or 133.
Reece Witcraft beat out Conner Wilson for the starting 133 spot this past season, while Fix used his Olympic redshirt.
The Cowboys did add 11 freshmen to their roster and Indiana transfer Joey Sanchez (157).
