The Big 12 announced their conference schedules for its men’s basketball teams today. as the new era continues for Coach Boynton and the Cowboys look to continue the momentum from last season by hopefully making it further than the second round of the NCAA Tournament this year.

Adding Kansas transfer Bryce Thompson and former Memphis big man Moussa Ciasse helps a lot, especially with an already established core of Avery Anderson, the Boone Twins, Issac Likekele and others.

The conference schedule is a double-round robin, which means they will play the other nine teams twice, once at home and once on the road.

The Cowboys will spend their New Years Day in Lubbock against a new look Texas Tech team lead by new head coach Mark Adams and Oral Roberts transfer Kevin Obanor.

The Cowboys Big 12 home opener at historic Gallagher-Iba Arena will be just three short days later on January 4 against an always game Kansas Jayhawk team, then the Cowboys will host a stacked Texas team led by new head coach Chris Beard on January 8. They’ll match up with that same Longhorn team two weeks later in Austin.

The Cowboys then travel to the hostile environment of West Virginia the following Tuesday before traveling to Waco to face defending National Champion Baylor on Saturday January 15. They will host Baylor on February 21st in what will be the second of Oklahoma State’s Big Monday games. The first being in Lawerence, Kansas where the Pokes will try to avoid being heartbroken on Valentine’s Day.

The Cowboys round out their Big 12 schedule in January hosting Iowa State and their new head coach T.J. Otzelberger in what will likely be the “Remember the Ten game” on January 26, before getting back on the Big 12 schedule against Kansas State in Little Manhattan on February 2.

A cool addition to the schedule is that Oklahoma State will host a basketball doubleheader on February 12th where the Cowgirls will take on Texas Tech and The Cowboys will play West Virginia.

Oklahoma State will host their in-state rival in the first of two Bedlam games with the first being Saturday February 5 and the Norman game being February 26.

The Cowboys finish the regular off in GIA against the same Texas Tech team they opened conference play with before heading to Kansas City for the Big 12 Tournament, March 9-12.
